CERF MATRIX

Dear colleagues,
The European Centre for Modern Languages (ECML) of the Council of Europe is pleased to announce the completion in both English and French of its CEFR-QualiMatrix resource website “A quality assurance matrix for CEFR use” (www.ecml.at/CEFRqualitymatrix), an output of the ECML programme “Languages at the heart of learning” (2016-2019).
The CEFR-QualiMatrix supports teachers and other language education professionals in engaging in curriculum renewal supported by the CEFR action-oriented approach vision of teaching and learning.
Alongside the matrix tool, the website provides a rich collection of resources and promising practices that can be used by different stakeholders at the levels of policy, curriculum development, teaching and assessment.
We would be grateful if you could use your networks to spread the word about this new publication. We believe that particularly in these challenging times, the resources and ideas provided on this platform will give professionals inspiration and help them foster effective language learning.
All you need to do is forward this email, deleting the text of the message before you press send. Your recipients will then only receive the embedded image.
Many thanks in advance,
Kind regards,
Sarah BRESLIN
Executive Director

The future of language education in Europe: case studies of innovative practices

The future of language education in Europe: case studies of innovative practices

The Network of Experts working on the Social Dimension of Education and Training (NESET), one of the seven official knowledge providers of European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC), has recently published a new analytical report, titled ‘The future of language education in Europe: case studies of innovative practices’.
The main purpose of this report is to explore emerging innovative approaches and strategies of language teaching in Europe supporting learners’ plurilingualism, inspire educators and policy makers to innovate and implement forward-looking policies and practices in language education, and contribute to the implementation of the EU Council Recommendation on a comprehensive approach to the teaching and learning of languages (adopted in May 2019).
The publication also refers to the work of the Council of Europe’s European Centre for Modern Languages (ECML) and highlights 8 projects and tools promoting plurilingual pedagogies (see pp. 4, 36, 37, 40, 61, 88, 114, 118, 128): for more on this issue see the following link:https://www.ecml.at/News3/TabId/643/ArtMID/2666/ArticleID/1601/The-future-of-language-education-in-Europe-case-studies-of-innovative-practices.aspx
